We are proud to announce that ROSA ET AL Townhouse architectural refurbishment project by Emanuel de Sousa promoted by BED AND BRUNCH COLLECTION has been awarded with the RESPECT FOR ARCHITECTURE 2012 PORTO selection by ORDEM DOS ARQUITECTOS Secção Regional do Norte, curated by Luís Tavares Pereira e Ana Neto. The selection will be shown in September around the city in multiple interactive platforms, so plan your trip to Porto and discover its vibrant history while endulging yourself in our exclusive townhouse.
To celebrate Porto and the opening of our awarded ROSA ET AL Tonwhouse, we share a detail of the Maria Pia bridge, commonly known as Ponte Dona Maria, a railway bridge built in 1877 by Gustave Eiffel in Porto, Portugal. Built of wrought iron, its two-hinged crescent arch used to carry the railway to Lisbon for 353 metres (1,158 ft) across the River Douro at a height of 60 m (200 ft) above the river. When constructed it was the longest single-arch span in the world. No longer in use, this amazing work of art and technique is one of five bridges that connect Porto to the south which you can discover in one of our tailor-made tours around the city.

The architectural design of ROSA ET Al Townhouse, Bed & Brunch Collection, designed by the architect Emanuel de Sousa was selected for the Portuguese Architecture Exhibition 'QUIET IS THE NEW LOUD', produced by ESTRATÉGIA URBANA with the institutional support of ORDEM DOS ARQUITECTOS, co-organized with the Brazilian Museum of Sculpture, MUBE, and curated by architects Luis Tavares Pereira, Miguel and Nuno Sampaio Judas, within the activities of the 'Year of Portugal in Brazil'. THE SKYLIGHT ANNUAL ART COMMISSION
ROSA ET AL Townhouse SKYLIGHT ANNUAL ART COMMISSION sponsored by BED & BRUNCH COLLECTION is a a new Annual Art Commission promoting young artists living in Portugal. This Annual Art commission invites an artist (or collective) to instal a bidimensional work of art onto ROSA ET AL Townhouse existing skylight using standard auto-adhesive coloured vinyl.
Traditional skylights in Porto are made with iron and stained glass creating wonderful light-shadow coloured graphic effects in interior spaces. Thus, the commission challenges artists to reinterpret this tradition by creating contemporary art forms, patterns and graphics to be installed onto the skylight during the summer.
The
SKYLIGHT ANNUAL ART COMMISSION will be on display for 4 months, from June 1st to September 30th.
Admission is free, subject to prior appointment.
